The role of the CDM (Construction Design & Management) Consultant is to provide the client with a key project adviser in respect of construction health and safety risk management matters.

On 6th April 2015, the new Construction (Design and Management) Regulations came into force. The most notable changes to the 2015 Regulations being that domestic projects are no longer outside the scope of CDM, with clients on all projects whether non-domestic or domestic where more than one contractor (trade) is appointed must appoint a Principal Designer and Principal Contractor.

The thresholds of notification to the HSE also changed on the introduction of the new CDM Regulations.

Marsh and Riddell have staff qualified and registered with the Institution of Construction Safety and can provide Principal Designer or advisor to Principal Designer Services.

Health and Safety Consultancy:

Marsh and Riddell offer a range of Health and Safety services to Contractors, to include:

  • Advising and assisting the client in order to help them comply with their duties under the regulations
  • Identification and collection of pre-construction information, advice on surveys and dissemination of all the information to all relevant parties
  • Managing the flow of Health & Safety information between client, designers and contractors
  • Production and preparation of Construction Phase Health and Safety Plans in accordance with CDM 2015 requirements
  • Site Health and Safety inspections
  • Full Health and Safety Audit services to inspect, review and provide advice to contractors on the Health and Safety Policies and procedures which are in place
  • Giving notice to the HSE
